We at Alexander Sloan are often asked questions about applying component accounting. We thought it would be useful to collate a selection of these questions and produce a handout with our responses. The Component Accounting FAQ handout is available here. The contents of the handout are for guidance only and professional advice should be obtained before acting on any information contained therein.
Component Accounting
Our recent RSL Seminars in Glasgow and Edinburgh proved to be a great success, attracting attendees from as far as Aberdeen and Belfast! The seminar covered component accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards, an update on audit issues and VAT.
We understand that implementing component accounting is a daunting prospect for RSLs. Seminar feedback was very positive with attendees feeling more confident in approaching the task following our practical advice.
Please see below for further information on component accounting and our Component Accounting Guide.
COMPONENT ACCOUNTING
The move to component accounting will cause many Associations problems. In order to assist RSLs we have developed a Component Accounting Guide. This guide identifies many of the issues RSLs will face when implementing component accounting as well as offering practical advice. We will also be providing additional guidance during our Housing Association Seminar in January 2011.
A discussion group, RSL Component Accounting, has been set up on Linkedin for Housing Associations to discuss the issues and it can be accessed using the following link.
SORP 2008
The SFHA, the National Housing Federation and their Welsh counterparts have issued an updated SORP covering Registered Social Landlords. RSLs who are members of the SFHA will receive a copy in due course. Copies of the SORP can also be purchased from the National Housing Federation using the following link. Our next RSL newsletter will provide further information on the new SORP.
