Alexander Sloan Chartered Accountants have been working together to develop what we consider to be an enhanced approach to internal audit, making best use of our combined skills and experience.

WHAT CAN WE OFFER

The combined skills and experience include:

• We carry out external audit for over 25 Registered Social Landlords (RSLs)
• We provide internal audit services for a wide range of RSLs from small community based associations to large national associations.
• We are a firm of Chartered Accountants authorised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland to carry on audit work
• We have an experienced team, including internal audit partner Andy McBean, Associate Phil Morrice and RSL Manager Rachel Osprey. All internal audit staff undergo ongoing training on RSL best practice twice a year.
• We have expertise in assessing internal controls in many different businesses including a Building Society, Credit Union, Retail Shops and industry
• We  provide finance services to RSLs
• We provide policy and procedural development services and committee & staff training
• We have undertaken  independent reviews for RSLs including reviews of complaints by tenants,  employment matters and polices and procedures.

The benefits of our service are that we bring together our vast experience of RSLs and audit to provide a service that is constructive and useful for the governing body and management team. Our principal goals are to assist the RSL in attaining its goals and objectives and to provide assurance to the governing body that the RSL has effective internal controls

WHY NOW?

Following the publication of ‘Risk & Proportionality’ it would appear that Communities Scotland will place greater reliance on reviewing submissions from RSLs in order to develop Regulatory Statements and consider their level of engagement with RSLs. We believe that internal auditors have an important role to play in this development, both in reviewing submissions and advising on their completion.
